Gregory S. Carter

Greg Carter is a litigation associate in the firm’s Denver office. Mr. Carter’s practice focuses on state and federal litigation and appeals for corporate clients, including financial institutions. These disputes include contractual claims, torts, and real estate disputes. Mr. Carter also represents clients in securities arbitrations pending before FINRA. Prior to joining León Cosgrove, LLP, Mr. Carter served as a judicial law clerk in Denver District Court and at the Colorado Court of Appeals.

In District Court, Mr. Carter drafted orders on motions from every stage of litigation, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions on evidentiary issues. He also worked closely with the rules of civil procedure to ensure the timely progression of each case and served as bailiff for more than 10 trials, interacting personally with the jurors each time.

While at the Court of Appeals, Mr. Carter honed his research and writing skills. He reviewed briefs and trial records, researched relevant Colorado case law, and drafted opinions for the judge.

Mr. Carter attended the University of Colorado Law School, where he served on the editorial board of the Colorado Law Review and was a member of the Colorado Law National Moot Court Team. He also worked as a teaching assistant and research assistant for two professors and interned for a district attorney’s office, the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado.

Mr. Carter received his undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University, where he served as captain of the men’s varsity soccer team.
